With only three months until Disney Marathon Weekend, I’ve run myself right down to the wire. If I start training tonight, which I did, I would have time to ramp up to 20 miles, then taper for two weeks before the marathon. It’s unfortunate I didn’t start training a few weeks earlier like I had planned; I would have had time to ramp up my mileage two or three times.
In essence, I’ve taken the last two years off from running, biking and swimming. I guess I probably needed it — I was more or less burned out anyway — in 2008 I competed in eight marathons and half-marathons, and in 2009 I completed every distance triathlon from the sprint to a full Ironman.
I used to blog my training and file race reports (some of which are still available on this site) though most of that content was removed during my period of inactivity. Maybe I’ll find it useful to start doing that again, at least on some level.
My run tonight was painful. Humbling even. Each run will get better though. I have three months to train for a marathon. Real smart.
