Leaving Dreamhost

I started my account with Dreamhost eight years ago in February of 2006.  Changing hosts was much simpler then, as I had a single HTML-based web site.  Today it means moving nearly two dozen web sites, most of which are powered by backend databases.  Complicating things further, many of them are web sites on which clients depend for the business operations.  It went surprisingly smooth.

While I’ve always felt Dreamhost was a decent value, I left for several reasons.  The primary reason was speed.  As more and more business sites are added to my hosting package, I began to feel as though they deserved better server performance.  And while I’ve never had problems with Dreamhost’s customer service, it too seems to be lacking in performance lately.
