Labor Day in Savannah

We typically vacation in  Savannah each year for our anniversary, having honeymooned there and really enjoyed it enough to go back each year.  Jen’s best friend and her husband typically vacation in Myrtle Beach each summer and we decided to meet up for a weekend in Savannah since they had never been there.

We usually prefer the Bed & Breakfast experience and make a habit of staying somewhere new each time.  We’re usually there a day or so short of what would be required for two people to justify renting a condo, but with four (and a half) of us there this time, we started looking on the Vacation Rentals by Owner web site.  Jen is masterful at this type of thing.  Within a week or so, she had developed a checklist of what features we needed and had a pool of potential condos to rent.

We ended up staying in the southeast corner of the historic district about two blocks from the police department.  Not a bad area, though we have stayed in more convenient places.  The condo itself was really nice and we definitely understand the benefit of staying in a condo with a kitchen rather than a B&B or hotel.

We hit a few of the coffee shops in Savannah, like The Coffee Fox on Broughton Street and Gallery Espresso on Bull Street.  We had lunch at The Shrimp Factory.  But mostly we just walked around and drooled over the architecture.

Savannah never gets old.
